Spring has finally arrived in Julian, heralded by masses of roadside daffodils. These estimated 3 million blooms of different narcissus varieties, planted over the course of the past 30 years as part of a community movement known as “The Julian Daffodil Project”, can be seen all over highways and hills throughout town- it’s an iconic display enjoyed by both visitors and locals alike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a long winter, there’s suddenly lots to do around Julian. This is the season when U-pick orchards open their gates for flower picking, local farm stands reopen, and the town starts to host its spring events. As trails dry out and weather becomes warmer, conditions become ideal for hikes in local mountain ranges. It’s not an uncommon sight to see PCT hikers stop through town for supplies as they begin their journey up the Pacific Crest Trail. Wildflower seekers from all over Southern California visit local eateries on their way to and from Borrego.
